Tantra Travel Log: Do you have 5 minutes to hear an illuminating (and controversial) distinction between Free Love and Polyamory? KTamera free love group shotamala Devi shares a VIDEO blog from Peace Research Center: Tamera, Portugal. Where she studies with visionary Dieter Duhm and a community of peace workers, truth seekers and Free lovers! Traditionally the biggest distinction between free love and Polyamory has been the use of rules, agreements and contracts. In this video we learn how these practices fit into a larger vision of enlightened loving?

For more information on Tamera go to Tamera.org. Kamala Devi is traveling Europe this summer and hopes to post more videos soon! Her next stop is a nudist colony in the south of France.

Also, you can come join her and her family: July 25 – August 1, 2015 for the 4th Summer Festival of Love: http://summerfestival.venwoude.nl/

I don’t believe in destiny…but anything is possible in Paris.

KamalaDevi Michael in ParisI once backpacked through Europe for 6 months. I met a lot of interesting people at gay bars and yoga ashrams and randomly in train stations, but I basically traveled alone. The quaint fishing villages and sculpture gardens were beautiful but boring. On New Years of 2000, I remember watching the Eiffel tower aglow with fireworks, from a rooftop window and feeling lonely. So much beauty, I thought it was a pity not to have someone to share it with. This story would be sad if I never found out that my future husband was just a few blocks away, watching the same firework show and thinking similar thoughts. We wouldn’t meet each other for another 4 years, but sharing that moment turns a sad memory into an unforgettably pleasurable one. Here we are, together again in Paris, over 15 years later. More in love than ever!

This mystery school is a gathering of such lovers who re willing to come together for the sake of visioning new possibilities for for humanity.

This is the European headquarters for the Center for Integral Wisdom. This year Marc Gafni taught about Lines and Circles; “the Inner Marriage between Male and Female. Not only every person, but all of existence is an expression of the penetrating power (line) and the receptive power (circle) If the line penetrates the circle something new is born.”

Always a student, I find lessons about free love & polyamory everywhere (even in my Fan Mail)

Kamala Devi writing polyamoryI am sincerely touched by the thoughtful and thought provoking letters and comments that I get in response to my Polyamory activism.  I take time to personally read them every morning over tea, however, it is not humanly possible for me to respond while traveling, being a mother, maintaining multiple lovers and of course, working on my next new book.

Today, I got fan mail which contained insightful and intimate details of a triad who’ve been practicing free love for 4 years with 4 kids. I was so moved this woman’s insights into free love that I asked for permission to post it so you could read it too.  If you like this  letter, please comment and I am happy to post more from my fans, we are all students and teachers.

Interesting side note. Most of my fan mail falls into 5 categories:

  1. Declarations of love for the pioneering work we are doing.
  2. Private details about the kinky or intimate inner workings of one’s love life, with a desperate plea for advice (or for me to join in.)
  3.  Polyamorous peers who are well intended but upset that I’m not representing well, something to the effect of: I make too many agreements, I am not politically correct or my public promiscuity gives poly a bad name.
  4. Hate mail from the religious extremists.
  5. A foreigner who promises a percentage if his fortune if I simply help him move millions of dollars from his bank in Nigeria by wiring  him money in advance… Wait, you got this one too? Don’t tell me it’s a scam!?

Joking aside, here is the letter that I deeply touched me. If you want to read more, please comment.

Hello KamalaDevi,

I wanted to thank you your free love video and your post about “loving the way that God Loves”  I have been In deep self exploration of both these topics. I have been in a triad for 4 years, and we did not even know the term poly existed until we watched your show, we just fell into each other’s lives and thought we where the only ones;) We where shocked to see people living kind of like us.
You have been a topic in our family for years, your show helped open us in the world.
We have 4 kids between us. We met on the philosophy of free love, my partners are married we have all lived together in till 3 months ago when we moved into 2 houses next-door and we are restructuring our dynamic.
We have not come across the need for anyone else however the past few months have brought a restructure that has tested every boundary I never new I had. Free Love to me is not only a sexual topic it’s about the way you love. It’s love in full gratitude for every moment you share with that person, with no bounders or exceptions of their experiences or your experience with them. Also, with full trust in yourself and your partner(s). I can see that this is my truth because when I tried to control what I thought I wanted, life got messy.
As a unit, we went on a journey together. An inward journey of openness, gratitude, respect, and honor. We have crossed every bridge over boundaries, walls, expectations, non action and separation– only to find ourselves beautifully back at the beginning. Just being grateful that we get to wake up and spend the day as a family. We are still going strong readjusting and expanding.
Even though things don’t look the same as they did, we are as aligned as 3 people can be. We share a deep understanding: To love someone freely you must truly want them and yourself to be free to experience life. In order to love deeply you have to let go of controlling. And let go of what you think you want. Just trust the flow. So everyone has the space to grow and expand.
It is with my my deepest love for their marriage and honor for how much we have grown, that I hold the faith in free love.
My feeling on how you reach God-state-of-love is by first understanding that God doesn’t Love, “God” is Love. So loving freely and completely in every moment and know with complete faith that you are the source of love, therefor it can not be taken it can only be expanded more. God has no boundaries, so to love in the vibration of oneness you must first tackle the fear of being al-one, the need for bounders, and the desire to control. The only focus can be trust that your heart is cradled by your own strength and wholeness.
The issue I see with free love for mainstream, is that people don’t trust themselves, they don’t always see their divine self, so how can they completely trust or be trusted? Free Love is an evolution of our understanding of love. It’s a big responsibility and requires a lot of self reflection. I to am on a journey to find my deepest ability to love, accept myself, and experience the freedom of loving freely.
I was happy when I found poly, I thought it was my loop hole around having to give up all control, it was not! Our truth is that we can all only be completely free and trust that we will honor each other. Its a rush when your heart feels so filled with a Love, you may stumble at first to release the need to control and if you can really do it, it’s where the deepest parts of self is felt.
This last year was a challenge of my true self and it was the greatest gift of my journey.  Free Love is my true passion, I tried to love openly with boundaries and it crumbled because it brakes the first and only rule to free love: their are no boundaries.  My journey has shown me that when it comes to Relationships, all you can do is start with self love, trust, have gratitude in every moment and let go of the rest. Although this process has has brought me face to face with my shadows, it has also rebuilt someone I am excited to meet!!
Thanks for what you do, you share so much to open the doors for so many! you are a deeply beautiful soul!
Namaste

What are Nootropics? Are ‘brain pills’ safe? Do ‘smart drugs’ work? Pros and Cons.

Have you heard about the new supplement that is being described as viagra for the brain? It’s called Nootropics? Or Limitless NZT-48

brain sex nootropics
Remember the movie Limitless?  It’s a hollywood film based on “The Dark Fields” a novel by Alan Glynn. Basically a struggling writer takes a mysterious pill called NZT which is supposed to increase his creativity, and it actually activates 100 percent of his brain capacity, so he becomes a financial wizard. It’s a wonderful fantasy, UNTIL the part where he becomes addicted and his life is threatened by a rich and powerful enemy.

As a writer, I can relate to the burning desire to swept over by an immense creative flow. When I heard well respected holistic doctors and scientists in my community talking about a non-pharmasudical supplement that enhances cognitive function, I got curious. Can nootropics really provide greater alertness, clarity, focus…and mood, without side effects? I’ve since done some first hand research, and wrote this blog to share my conclusions.

Sharing about mind or mood altering substances is always a bit vulnerable, especially in my case where I turned to nootropics during a time of desperate need. About a year ago, I was suffering from a nervous breakdown and several people in my circle of advisors suggested I consider going back to SSRI anti-depressants (as I did during my postpartum depression, and during several bouts of depression after college.) But I didn’t want to go the pharmacutical route if I didn’t have to. So my boyfriend at the time introduced me to nootropics. I’ve been studying nootropics for over a year and as I see it, here are the Pros and Cons:

Nootropic Pros:

They are known to boost our natural neurotransmitters, enzymes and hormones. Oxygen supply to the brain is elevated. Nerve growth is stimulated. As a result, linguistics skills and memory are highly upgraded and this increase in brain energy also translates to physical energy. Many studies have shown that Nootropics are suitable for long term use even have neuroprotective qualities to help reduce damage to the brain caused by aging. Also, as a fun benifit, Nootropics have also been known to enhance dreams.

Nootropic Cons:

To my knowledge, there are no studies that show nootropics are harmful or dangerous, but we may not have enough information about the long term effects of their use.  Too much of anything can make anyone sick. Even natural nootropics such as St. John’s Wort can cause diarrhea, hyperactive moments and sleepless symptoms. Huperzia serrata an natural extract from a vine in the Amazon, can imitate nerve gas. Since many nootropics are stimulants, it’s important to moderate your use becuase side effects include restlessness and jitters, nausea, heart palpitations, insomnia, headaches, dizziness, and vomiting, among others.

However, when used safely and as recommended, there are little to no negative side effects. There is some question to whether the body builds up a tolerance. I advocate practicing everything in moderation and like to cycle off of them For example, stop taking them for a week every month so as not to build up a dependency.

naturalIf you’re intrigued by the idea of powerful brain-boosting supplements, but want to avoid synthetics, you still have a variety of natural options.  As it turns out, many of the supplements we now recognize as natural nootropics can be traced back to ancient Chinese medicine and Traditional Ayurvedic treatments. I’ve been taking Giungko Biloba since college. Ashwagandha is a classic stress reliever. Lion’s Mane mushroom and Bacopa Monnieri are common memory enhancers used all over Europe. Thus, there are many all-natural nootropics that improve your memory, elevate your mood, and enhance your learning capacity.

The laboratory-synthesized nootropics were discovered less than 60 years ago and there are clinical trials being conducted now, all over the world, to explore the effects of both synthetic and natural nootropic supplements. Modern science is far more accurate and precise in managing dosages than the ancient practice of picking leaves and berries. Also, pharmaceutical grade products control dosages and prevent contaminated natural extracted products. This is especially important when combining (or stacking) nootropics.

Nootropics are all about personalized combinations, or what is called: stacking. Each ingredient acts as potentiator when combined with another. One of the problems with nootropic supplements not being regulated by the FDA, is that they are often sold without a clear ingredient list. When we look closer at the Nutritional facts label, we find the following classifications: (I’m no chemist, so I personally prefer to have a trusted company like this one do the stacking for me, but I like to at least read the labels and see what I’m taking.)

  1.  HERBAL NOOTROPICS: a) Huperzine A b) Bacopa Monneri c) Vinpocetine d) Ginseng e) Rhodiola rosea f) Mucuna pruriens – precursor to dopamine g) Gotu Kola h) Lion’s Main Mushroom i) CILTEP Stack j) Artichoke extract k) Coleus Forskohlii root extract
  2.  RACETAMS: a) Piracetam b) Aniracetam c) Oxiracetam d) Pramiracetam e) Noopept f) Phenylpiracetam g) Nefiracetam – not recommended due to safety h) Coluracetam (not recommended)
  3.  CHOLINE: a) Lecithin b) Choline Bitartrate + Citrate c) Alpha GPC d) Citicoline e) ALCAR f) Centrophenoxine
  4.  ACETYLCHOLINE (over the Counter): a) Huperzine A b) Galantamine (Snowdrop)
  5.  AMPAKINES: a.) Aniracetam b.) Sunifiram – not recommended due to lack of research c.) Unifiram – not recommended due to lack of research
  6.  OTHER NOOTROPICS: a) Caffeine b) Pyritinol c) Sulbutiamine d)L-theanine e) Picamilon f) Phenylethylamine (PEA) g) B vitamins h) L-Phenylalanine i) Acetyl-L-Carnitine

If you are new to nootropics, it is recommended that you start slow, with small dosages and notice the effects of each combinations before increasing dosage and/or moving onto more powerful supplements. This also helps avoid negative side effects.

So what’s the bottom line?

Are they safe?
The politically correct thing to say is: consult your medical professional before changing any supplementation, especially if you have pre-existing health conditions. However, I’m not always politically correct and I tend to believe that my body is the highest authority on my health. I’ve been using nootropics for over a year now, tracking my results as I play with different combinations of both natural and syntehtic stacks. I have researched several companies and have no reservations about recommending my friends to try NZT-48 for themselves. Side effects and drug interactions with these racetams and cholinergics are minimal.  Here is a link to the company I trust the most. Their products are high quality and and I personally know over a dozen people who can make first hand recommendations for them.

Are they effective?

Wow! Within minutes after sipping on my first personalized batch of nootropics, my already high expectations were exceeded. Mental clarity, focus, memory, creativity and productivity all went up over 200%. Since I am sensitive (and slim)  I usually take half of the recommended dosage of anything, and I still felt powerful positive results! And the best part, I did not have hangover the next day. Of course, your milage may vary but I’m personally grateful to have been introduced to this creativity booster and I look forward to hearing about your experience!
Since there are hundreds of brain pills available on the market, each one claiming to be the best, the options can be overwhelming.  I tell my friends to start with a 2 week trial of Real NZT-48.  Click Here. This website also offers a customer intake form so that they can taylor the stack for you body size, and specific health considerations.

10 outrageous Love letters to my beloved Husband, Michael on his Birthday.

KamalaDevi n Michael in TurkeyWriting love letters can be a spiritual practice. At the Mystery school in Holland we learned that in order to approximate the immensity of outrageous love, we must wildly exaggerate our words, either through verbal appreciation, love letters, or little love notes. In the spirit of this new teaching, on my Husband’s 51st birthday, I’m posting 10 little love notes along with fun photos from our recent travels in Europe. I hope it inspires you to make an outrageous act of love Today!
10) Beloved,
You touch me.
Your words and way in the world excites something under my skin.
A sensation akin to massage or sexual stroking. Just thinking of your presence stimulates a sensual surrender who’s only impulse is to serve love. The big love. To contribute pleasure to the whole field of love. Your existence expands the potentiality of my ecstatic yes. You being you, touches me.
Love, KamalaDevi
  9) Working on a Relationships can be an uphill struggle. Michael McClure and I have spent several months on a metaphoric Mountain climb. Neither of us have ever been this far, and didn’t know what to expect. We’ve had to lean on each other, take turns carrying the baggage, and sometimes double back to rest. But we are now getting a glimpse at new vistas. And I’m happy to report: The view is stunning. The reward to all this risk is beyond worthy!

8) I love everything about him. Even the stuff I judge. I often run stories in my head (which are born of my own insecurity) about how he’s too practical or sensitive; or not complex or serious enough. In truth, he is my perfect fit. He grounds me in the material world and teaches me kindness; he simplifies life and makes everyone laugh. Michael McClure is the best decision I ever made. I love my life partner.

KamalaDevi n Michael Dinner7) There is no temple, book or teacher –of love– that is more profoundly insightful for me than you. Our dynamic relationship is a perfectly tailored curriculum of embodied wisdom that forces my heart into quantum expansion. You are my lord, my life partner, and the love of my life.

6) My 2nd awakening struck shortly after getting the call to travel India. Despite my insistence on going alone, Michael insisted on taking the pilgrimage with me, forever liberating me from the illusion that God is more readily found in some ancient temple, than in the eyes of the beloved before me.

5) Michael McClure, You are my North Star. Periodically throughout my mission to chart new territories, there are times when I feel lost at sea, but I am blessed because I can always count on your bright light to guide me.

4) Beloved, you have so many qualities that I admire and learn from, every day. I am amazed at what good care you take of your body, how focused you are at work and how present you are with the family. I love how balanced you are. Loving you makes me a more well-rounded woman.

KamalaDevi n Michael in Paris3) I dreamt I had a husband who serenades me and we lived in a house by the beach and a happy circle of lovers stop by to visit and play–Then I woke up and realized– I am living that dream.

2) You are my king. I couldn’t see it at first, I was a Domineering self indulgent Queen….but it’s lonely ruling alone.

1) Beloved husband of 13 years,
Every day we spend together, our love grows wiser and deeper. I’m so blessed to be in an evolutionary partnership with you. I don’t want to waste another second of my life taking you for granted. I am hereby re-committing to always seeing your brilliance…which is actually hard to miss, since you are such a creative genius!

I love you– Outrageously,

KamalaDevi McClure

Saying Goodbye to the Woman Who Inspired Me to Become a Sexual Healer: RIP Deborah Taj Anapol Ph.D.

Deborah Taj Anapol

How do I simultaneously celebrate and Mourn the passing of a mentor?

Deborah Taj Anapol, age 64, passed away with surprising elegance in England where she was traveling to lead a retreat. Her friends Marta and Robert wrote a letter with the following astounding details about her final moments on Earth:

“Before she went to bed, Taj wanted to show us a short film about ecstatic death. We watched this together in front of the wood fire, and afterwards she spoke a little more about death, and the possibility of letting go into it. “If you live your life orgasmically, your death will also be orgasmic,” is what she said. She went off to bed later with a warm hug. In the morning, we found that she must have died shortly after she went to bed. In the light of the extraordinary quality of this last day, the joy she took in it, and the things she spoke of as the day ended, I cannot but feel that Taj at some level knew and embraced the point she had arrived at, even so wonderfully in love with life as she was.”

What a incredible inspiration!

Most people know Deborah Taj Anapol as a pioneer of the modern Polyamory movement. Even before Polyamory was popular she advocated for “responsible non-monogamy.” She wrote Love Without Limits, 1992.  She was also a founding member and writer for Loving More magazine. In more recent years she served on the Faculty for International School of Temple Arts, then her focus shifted to Pelvic Heart Integration and the Eco sexuality Revolution.

Without her, I would not have the freedom to love as openly as I do today.

To me, Taj was not just a mentor but a role model and a friend. She was a massive support to me and my work in the world. On more than one occasion, she thanked me for taking her place as the poster-child for polyamory. She came to Harbin hotsprings to see the world premiere of Showtime’s Polyamory: Married & Dating and she said she was happy to have passed the baton. I’m both smiling to have made her proud, and simultaneously weeping because she’ll never know what she meant to me.

Since she was an advocate of sitting around in a circle of juicy women and “talking story” I have three shameless memories I want to share, after all, this is a radical and eulogy, for a radical woman:

Debrah Taj Anapol Eco sexual

1) I’ll never forget Taj teaching topless at my first pelvic heart initiation in 2004. It was in the middle of the summer and we were an advanced and small group of women. I feel like such a pervert for not paying attention to her teachings because I was too busy staring at her beautiful bosom. She looked so regal, sitting crosslegged with a wrap around her waist and her bare breasts bouncing as she waved her hands about.

2) Ten days after the tragic Exxon Mobil oil spill of 2010, I got a random phone call from Taj. She was deeply distressed. It was important to her that I understood the severity of the situation, and what the media is not talking about. I remember getting off the phone in awe of the depths of her feelings. She cared so deeply for her Lover Earth.

3) Deborah Taj Anapol once attended the largest sacred sexual play party I’ve ever hosted. It must’ve been around 2008, in Sedona when we held a private house party for over 130 Sexual educators and healers. I was both nervous and ecstatic to kick off with a conscious disrobing ceremony. Then my period came in the middle of my performance. Afterwards, Taj asked if there was anything she could do to help “ground” me. We sat in Yab Yum in the center of the room.  She was delighted by my blood (since she had long since said goodbye to her moon-time) she left me feeling completely free of shame.

Deborah Taj Anapol is interviewed by Kamala Devi for the Monthly San Diego Community Polyamory Potluck. She discusses her new book: Polyamory in the 21st Century. And offers a preview to her upcoming Pelvic Heart Integration Weekend.

Deborah Taj Anapol is interviewed by Kamala Devi for the Monthly San Diego Community Polyamory Potluck. She discusses her new book: Polyamory in the 21st Century. And offers a preview to her upcoming Pelvic Heart Integration Weekend.

Of all the teachings Taj offered the last time she was in my living room in San Diego, the most memorable words were these:

“Love is limitless. The form can change at any time. What counts is allowing love to dictate the form rather than forcing love into whatever mold the mind has decided is right.”–Deborah Taj Anapol.

Indeed, she was the woman who first inspired me to become a sexual healer. But she is also an limitless being who’s calling was not only to pioneer a path towards sexual liberation, but to blaze a trail towards orgasmic death. I could only hope to continue dancing in her direction, all the way through the end!

I will be leading an intimate memorial ritual in San Diego this Sunday. If you are a dear friend, please send me a personal message.

A girl scoops up a neglected chunk
of concrete and reads it’s texture
with her lips.
One smooth surface seems to say
nothing
while the jagged underbelly cries:
Plug me into the sidewalk from which I broke!
This almost un noticed piece of pavement is an epidemic of the larger gap
between her wild and primitive past
and her cold gray, over civilized future.
Spring ’90 © KD

While mourning Deborah Taj Anapol’s death. I find myself reminiscing through old journals. I found some forgotten poems, and against my better judgement, I’m posting random sad poetry here with a couple of recent ones. They are sort of angsty and existential. Sorry, I don’t always write about sex, and love.

Untitled #2:

The water jug looks empty.
It doesn’t care that I am thirsty.
The Ice-cream carton is forming a sticky puddle
on the table across the room.
The sink is still full of dishes.
I can’t…
I don’t want to…
I wont…
separate my body from this sofa.

Talk Therapy:

A disjointed regression
becomes an endless encounter
with partial perspectives
an over-eager investigation
produces fabricated evidence
in a case where the magnifying glass
catches the subject on fire.

The poet and the Photographer:

Angle their heads
framing
composing
capturing
the exact angle
a precise perspective
omitting
objectifying
manipulating

Untitled # 3
the words come to me
while you play the music
i wish it were the other way around
but i know better
than to wrestle with Reality
i still haven’t recovered
from the last time
she kicked my ass and
humiliated me on the mat
so, I’ll stick to the words
if you’ll strum our song

To Life:

We toast. Like always.
The words land inside me, for the first time
Unlike the million mindless rituals that came before
Something about our clinking glasses comes alive
My throat fills with fermented grape guts, and for a flash
The way a shooting star takes my breath away, I forget
Who I am and what I’m doing in physical form
I lift my face to the window in search of the moon
but see only a streetlamp, spitting filtered light
onto my neighbors tiled roof. What would it say?
If given the mysterious gift of speech
that I hope to never again take for granted
“L’chaim!”  It seems to scream
To the gift of life
But more importantly
To being alive!

Anniversary of the Goddess Temple Raids in Phoenix Arizona; Defending Tantra Temples for 4 years!

$

Kamala Devi n Tracy Ellise goddess templeWhat is happening since the Phoenix Goddess Temple Raids?

Do you remember hearing about how the Maricopa SWAT team broke into a federally recognized church with assault weapons drawn, confiscating and seizing all possessions, taking their personal computers into custody and hauling 18 people to jail, then shutting down the church. They issued 39 indictments, charged all healers, staff and ordained ministers with multiple felonies and crimes related to prostitution. Yet, not a single man who has ever visited the temple was arrested or prosecuted.

Likely, the reason you haven’t heard much about it is because the unprecedented case has been blacked balled by the media and stonewalled in the courts for 4 years now. What’s worse, as condition of their release from jail the defendants were hit with a “No contact order” so they couldn’t talk with anyone associated with the church and/or use social media, less it be considered conspiracy and used against them.  Fortunately those orders have all been lifted and everyone is finally out of jail.

During the 4 year period in which Arizona attorney General keeps delaying the case the prosecutor hasn’t produced any evidence beyond conjecture, they have no victims, no harm to property or life, all of which need to be proven for the government to intercede a church.

Meanwhile, two innocent women have died while wrongly accused. (RIP: Violet just passed away last month and Tamara died while she was under house arrest because she was not given proper medical attention!)  Most of the other women have lost friends, professional licenses, income, church, homes, and even children.

There are still 4 temple defenders stuck in system, fighting to clear their names while 36 Phoenix Goddess Temple Mary Magdelen initationpeople were essentially coerced to plea bargain and made criminals. Seventeen people refused to testify against the temple and took felonies instead (There is still hope that defense attorneys will overturn these convictions.)

Like many tantra practitioners, I’ve been scared to even talk about it. This traumatic ordeal has polarized the community at a time when support is most needed. Regardless of whether you think this case is grounds for a is neo-tantric church to fight for religious rights or whether you feel this should be another battle in the ongoing war to legalize prostitution, the fact remains that many women’s lives have been devastated in the process.

According to Dave who has been documenting this case since the beginning, “this entire case is a tragedy of enormous proportions and an example of a gross misuse of the judicial system to address moral issues.” Only 4 of the women had alleged prostitutions charges but instead of prosecuting specific women for a simple misdemeanor, the attorney general targeted every-one involved and threatened them with long prison terms, laundering and and felony records.

As an erotic educator, I personally feel called to speak up and support my sisters who may have simply be caught in the cross fire of a conservative politicians agenda. It’s time to educate ourselves against the misinformation that is circulating on Fox and the internet, making wrong accusations without any presumption of innocence. If I were the one who went to jail, I’d hate to see my reputation smeared, my religion mocked and have the sex-positive community members turn a blind eye to my gross mistreatment.

If you want more information about the case or how to support the cause, go to the Church website: Goddess Temple Class Action Case

Following is a vision statement from Mother Priestess Tracy Ellise:  I see my life as dedicated to the restoration of equality between women and men in the realms of spiritual authority. The definition of the creators as “God the Father” has virtually left all feminine wisdom silenced in the realm of morality. The fear that the male of the species… has forced feminine soul wisdom ‘underground’. We see this in the lack of sacred alternatives in sex education, and a growth in the secular ‘profane’ sex expressions of pornography, prostitution (sex for sale), the break down of pair bonds, sex addiction for many males and sexual shutdown for many females. My objective is to allow the ancient and powerful sacred sexuality teachings to emerge from all wisdom streams: Egyptian, Hindu, Buddhist, Goddess Worship, Druid/Pagan, Mystic Islam and Judeao-Christianty. This is a unifying temple, we are Gnostic and believe each person can access their Higher Power in their own unique way.”

Debrah Taj Anapol calls for a “Gender Queer Mother Earth” in her new and final book: Ecosexuality!

Deborah Taj Ecosex Naked in NatureThe Queen is dead, long live The Queen!  In France, they say: Le roi est mort, vive le roi !”  This saying came about because historically the French had a law whereby sovereignty was transferred instantaneously upon the moment of death of the previous monarch to the next successor to the throne. However, my interpretation of this cliche (or snowclone) is that the person has passed but the unbroken lineage of that person’s place in our hearts will always live on.

When Deborah Taj Anapol suddenly passed away last week, her San Diego friends and lovers got together and planted a tree. We prayed for “Lover Earth” to  immediately succeed her in our hearts.

Ecosexuality CoverThe brand new book, Ecosexuality: When Nature inspires the Arts of Love, contains the last words Debrah Taj Anapol’s ever published and it was scheduled to launch on Amazon, just days after she passed. In this paper 5 page paper, Taj shares about historic cultures who honored a Father Earth, and makes a post-conventional call for us to transcend and include the mother and the father in her vision of “Gender Queering Mother Earth.” This new meme offers hope for both sexual liberation and ecological sustainability.

Is the Earth a he, or a she? Or perhaps a “hir” gender in between? –Serena Anderlini

If you go to AMAZON right now and click “Look Inside” the book you can read the brilliant first page of this paper. This is her last official publication and absolutely worth remembering her by. This one chapter has completely changed the way I pray.

Additionally the book is worth buying for the 30 voices of the visionaries and poets of the new eco-sexual movement. Including Charles Eisenstein, Annie Sprinkle, Elizabeth Stephens, Serena Anderlini, Robert Silber, Gabriella Cordova, Susan Block, Karen Hery, Lindsay Hagamen and many more I’m honored to be offering my sexy sutras as a part of this collection. Pick up your copy or copies Today!

Let’s create a Virtual Ecosexual BLITZ!

Correction: Oops…! The original version of this newsletter was sent to 10K people and it said that I was  “drinking in the mornings” and what I meant to was “writing in the mornings (while drinking tea)” …How embarrassing!
Kamala Devi Make Love to Life header
My friend died.
Perhaps she was your friend too?
She was one of the great Polyamory Pioneers of all times.

Deborah Taj Anapol touched a lot of people (in a lot of ways) during her 64 years on earth.
Yesterday we planted a “Weeping Mulberry” tree in her honor.

During her memorial we had a wild bonobo-style ritual where we did performance art and someone asked: what would she would want from us?

Without debating over whether or not a dead person actually wants anything, I got crystal clear that It’s time for me to resume writing my monthly newsletters. Taj was not only the author of numerous landmark books (Like Love without Limits) but had a monthly practice of updating the world on whatever the hell she felt like writing about.

I’ve been in sabbatical for the last 6 months and (other than the occasional hint that I’m healing from a nervous breakdown) I’ve been a bit afraid to write you. But life is short. And too precious. I’d hate to die without telling you how much you mean to me. And how much I love life.

If you believe there is such a thing as “too much information” you might want to unsubscribe. I’ll miss you, but I’m not willing to hold back anymore.

So Here’s a snapshot of what’s been happening on the home-front:

After “magical mystery tour” of Western Europe. Michael and I had a rough landing. Food Poisoning, Insomnia, a non-epileptic seizure, and the loss of our mentor all in a row. I spend most mornings working on an epic new collaboration called The Pleasure Bible and evenings relaxing and playing.

Meanwhile Michael’s solar business is expanding and Devin (age 8) is enrolled in Jr. Life guradingand Ninja Camp and says he’s having the “best summer ever!”

In other news, I have 5 quick and insightful invitations for you right now:
1) We have a girlfriend (perhaps she is your friend too?) that has been prevailing
over brain cancer and needs our love support for medicine to keep her alive. She
is a true artist, mother, sister goddess and ANY AMOUNT will help. Learn more
about her here
.  And Please Donate!2)TODAY on AMAZON, Deborah Taj Anapol’s most recent book called  “ECOSEXUALITY: When Nature Inspires the Arts of Love” is launching! I am proud to be a contributor on this project, her call to “Queer Mother Earth” is a must read. 3) Come away with us! Our next tantric travel adventure will be in Jerusalem Israel for the conference on the evolution of conscious Sexuality in September followed by a week long Shamanic retreat in October. This is some of the deepest sexual healing available on the planet today!!!
4) To read my Eulogy to Taj to read about the uncanny events surrounding her death, and what she meant to me personally.5) This is the 4 year anniversary of the Phoenix Goddess Temple Raids,
here’s a shocking update speaking up about the injust treatment of women and sex positive religions.I’m looking forward to staying in better touch! With enormous affection,

Why Trainwreck is my new favorite movie of 2015. Film Review from a sex-positive perspective.

“In every group of girlfriends, there’s that one who is the sluttiest. If you don’t have that friend, then you’re that friend.” –Amy Schumer Trainwreck a sex positive movie review

Who is this woman? I dragged my husband out of the hot tub and into the theaters on a Saturday night because I saw a movie trailer that opens with children chanting:

“Monogamy isn’t realistic, Monogamy isn’t realistic.”

That’s all I knew about the new movie “Trainwreck” Starring Amy Schumer, Bill Hader. I had no idea I’d spend the rest of the night laughing and sobbing on my husbands shoulder. I was so blown open, by the time the lights went up, I could barely leave the theater. The story is so much deeper than the one-line plot summary would suggest: “a commitment-phobic career woman may have to face her fears when she meets a good guy.”

If you can overlook the requisite formula for all romantic comedies, you’ll see the story laden with rebellious social commentary. Despite the fact that she conforms to the mongomous norm by the end, Amy Schumer plays a sexually empowered writer who is unapologetic about her lascivious ways. She is witty, smart and sarcastic. Saying things like: “Do you dress your husband like that so nobody else wants to have sex with him?”

Throughout the movie, the original dialogue is both brilliant and naturally delivered.  The characters are so relatable they could have been cast from one of my many awkward family reunions. There’s a whole string of celebrity cameos such as Daniel Radcliffe, Marisa Tomei, Matthew Broderick and our darling polyamorous celebrity Tilda Swinton. By far the best appearance was by LeBron James playing a more charming, simple-minded and cheap version of himself.

If I’m going to spend my date-night in front of a big screen, it better be a movie that makes me think some and feel more. Check. Check. This flick accomplished both. I started self-reflecting on all the ways my parent’s programming still affects my love life, and the unconscious habit of pushing intimacy away. It’s as if my own insecurities, addictions and narcissistic tendencies were in the spotlight. I came away feeling more devotion for my husband, who, admittedly would have preferred the final scene to be an orgy with the whole Knick City Cheerleading squad, but who never complains about my obsession with romantic chick flicks.

Watch the official trailer here, and let me know what you thought of the movie in the comments below.

To be clear: Trainwreck is is not a poly themed movie. But if you are interested in a list of movies about multi-partner relating, (based in honesty and not cheating,) here is a post I wrote on my old blogger site: //uninhibitedbliss.blogspot.com/2009/05/poly-themed-flicks.htm

Polyamory Pillow Talk: Caught Cheating & Handling Heartbreak!?

$

polypillownew logoPublished In Loving More MagAzine Sept, 2015 www.LoveMore.com

I get emails that haunt me. They read: “I feel so alone” and “I need a poly sister because I am in full meltdown here.” It hurts to hear cries for help, from virtual strangers. I know what it feels like to be misunderstood. To not be able to talk about your relationship angst to your parents, co-workers, and neighbors. Hell, even your local bartender says, “What do you expect when you play with fire?!”   The whole world seems to blame polyamory for all of our woes. Nobody gets it.

So we struggle alone. We minimize our troubles, and we keep making the same damn mistakes that could have been avoided if we had better support. Good advice is hard to come by. Good polyamorous advice is exponentially hard to find. Not only is polyamory a burgeoning new orientation, but every polyamorous relationship is different; and no single pearl of wisdom is going to apply to all the quirky and complex personalities involved.

Until last month, I didn’t know what to do with all these emails. I couldn’t possibly respond to everyone. I was on personal retreat, busy working with a deadline for my next book. But then, out of the blue, a dear friend and polyamorous mentor died.  Deborah Taj Anapol was a rare human with a gift for giving advice. She was one of the few people I could count on for honest insights about the deep matters of the heart. She wasn’t afraid to confront people if she believed it would help them.  Her passing put me into a  life review. I realize that in the end, we only live on through those whose hearts we touch.

Even though her dying represents an unexpected end of one chapter in polyamory history, it’s not the end of the book.  Since she was one of the original founders of the magazine Loving More and she was an avid blogger at “Love Without Limits, Reports from the Relationship Frontier,”  I am feeling inspired to start a new monthly column in Loving More Magazine in her honor.

According to Wikipedia, “Pillow talk is the relaxed, intimate conversation that often occurs between two sexual partners after the act of coitus, usually accompanied by cuddling, caresses, and other physical intimacy. It is associated with honesty, sexual afterglow, and bonding, and is distinguished from dirty talk which usually forms part of foreplay.” I’m calling this column “Poly Pillow Talk” because I intend to be intimate, candid and honest, yet OPEN to everyone who reads it.  I want you to feel like a lover. So, I figure I’ll start off by answering some typical questions I get from my fans, and eventually I’ll seduce you to send me fresh and challenging questions each month.

In sifting through my neglected files of fan mail, I noticed several common themes emerge, some of which had nothing to do with this advice column, such as: Can we exchange nude pictures? Is your show going to have a season 3? When are you coming to India to teach polyamory? Will you endorse my product? How do I become your disciple, lover, slave, bitch…etc? I don’t plan to dignify irrelevant questions with a response here; I just thought you’d find them interesting. So, here are the two questions I selected for today: 1) Handling Heartbreak and 2) Caught Cheating.

Q:1 HANDLING HEARTBREAK.

“Hello! Me and my fiancé loved learning about you and your family by watching Polyamory: Married & Dating. A few years later, we decided to become polyamorous as well. I’ve had a few flings. He hasn’t found a woman who would begin to consider going down our crazy path. Anyway, that’s a little background info. I am messaging you to tell you how calm, encouraging, and loving you always seem. Secondly, I didn’t see any heartbreak on the show. Do you ever experience heartbreak? As in, you start a relationship with a man and he leaves because poly is too much for him? This has happened to me twice since April. I am starting to think dating is not even worth it. I don’t wanna be getting my heart broken every time I turn around. And lastly are you still with Jennifer and Tahl? Thanks for reading. (Smily emoticon) You’re a great role model, and I reference you often.”

—S.M.

Whether you’re poly, single or married, breaking up is a bitch. I may not have shown it on TV, but I’m no stranger to the devastating pain of loss that comes with losing a lover. How do I handle it? I cry. A lot. Some might think that having multiple partners means that you have a sort of built-in system for rebound. Perhaps if someone doesn’t want to face their loss they could find comfort in taking another lover. But every love is unique, and simply cannot be replaced. Additionally, when we allow ourselves to love more than one, we put ourselves at risk for the absolute most unbearable experience: multiple simultaneous breakups.

Shortly after the season finale, due to circumstances unrelated to the show, I separated with Jason, Jennifer and Tahl. Jason moved out of the country and Jennifer and Tahl moved out separately. I can’t describe the searing hurt I suffered. Thank God I had multiple shoulders to cry on. It’s important to note that my loss had a rippling impact on my husband and my girlfriend, Roxanne. Just because my heart had broken into pieces, I learned, didn’t make it acceptable to lash out or snap at my current relationships. I never again want to take my beloveds for granted. So in the several breakups that I’ve had since, I try to mourn gently, taking myself on walks, watching sunsets, binging on healthy stuff, and talking about it little by little, until day by day I find myself on the other side.

poly potluck coming out-001Fortunately the predominant value in the polyamorous community is to maintain friendships and sometimes even sensuality when a relationship transitions. Everyone involved in my string of breakups has made a valiant effort to stay in touch and find “right relation.” After taking a few months of “intentional space,” Jennifer and Tahl are again among my best friends who I see frequently, while Jason and I enjoy the occasional warm melting hug when we run into each other at events. But most breakups are not nearly that easy.

Unfortunately, when someone decides polyamory is not for them, they likely won’t share the same value for ongoing connection. The monogamous paradigm typically involves a clean break and severing all ties from old sweethearts. In these cases, I have been known to journal many letters, poems and/or songs that never get sung.

Q:2 CAUGHT CHEATING.

“I had a problem with my girlfriend. I need your advice how to face the mental turmoil I have undergone every day since I found out she had physical relationship with another man.  I caught them red-handed naked in the bedroom. She is still with me, I still care for her, but she wants different sex experiences with a young man.”

–P.K.

Ouch. Talk about heartbreaks. I get so many stories about couples who betray each other. What astounds me is why so many people seem to think this is a poly question. In this case (as with many others), when I inquired further, this man and his girlfriend didn’t actually have any agreements. They were operating within the standard assumptions of a monogamous paradigm until she cheated on him. When he saw the show he automatically jumped to the conclusion that polyamory could solve their problems. People often hear that polyamory is about multiple partners but somehow forget that it involves the informed consent of everyone involved. I hate to break it to you (and the rest of the world) but someone has to say it:  Cheating does NOT make you or your girlfriend a good candidate for polyamory. However, if she were compulsive about telling the truth, your case would not be so hopeless.

Successful polyamory is built on a foundation of trust and communication. If you think that your partner’s betrayal and deception is a good reason to open the relationship, you are going to be sadly disappointed. Restoring the trust after one partner has been caught cheating is not impossible. (It takes a tremendous amount of reassurance, compassion and loyalty, but it can be done.)  And yet, opening a monogamous relationship into polyamory takes all that plus more. It takes both partners being onboard, a commitment to total honesty, a willingness to work through jealousy, a high degree of emotional maturity, and fierce dedication to communicate before and after each new connection.  In my world view, the best premise on which to open a relationship is not only when you are secure within yourself but also when you are secure within your relationship. When people try to bypass one or the other, they end up in a pattern of recurring pain.

So, I suggest you do some soul-searching. What is the shape of your heart? Do you want to be in a devoted relationship with one person, or do you want to learn to share your love with multiple people? Do not ask yourself, “What is the relationship structure that will help me keep my partner?” but ask, “What will help me express the fullness of who I am?” And then you have to be willing to go for your deepest truth, even if it means letting go of your current relationship.

So now, to close our first “Polyamory Pillow Talk” I want to gently stroke your hair and tell you that you deserve the love life of your dreams. You’re going to go through moments where you might feel totally alone. We all do. There are millions of us out there going through something similar. I hope you open up and share the details of your process with us. I may not have all the answers, and you may not even like what I have to say; but just by writing it out, you might gain clarity. And I hope my advice will help somebody, or it might further the conversation. So let’s keep talking about it. After all, withholding your perspective just perpetuates the illusion of separation.

SAVE THE DATE! This Halloween, Oct. 31st 2015 The Sacred Slut Sutras book hits Amazon. Afterwards, a big online launch Party is scheduled for Nov. 18th. Here’s a Sneak Peek of three of the fabulous pieces used to illustrate KamalaDevi’s deep and dirty poetry. Also here’s the text on the Back Cover:

Do you ever fantasize about unbuttoning a woman from top to bottom?

Each sutra in this collection is a string on the sweater of reality. Read slowly until eventually existence comes undone in your hands.  Don’t get this book if you are uncomfortable with the deep mystery of the universe, for all the greatest paradoxes will only become more perplexing. Nor is it advised if you are prude, for sex and spirit in these pages are as inextricable as waves and particles. Open at your own risk. And consider opening another’s heart by buying more than one copy. This book is intended to be a gift for the beloved, a friend, or a stranger.

“At bedtime, I read the Sacred Sex Sutras aloud to my lover and it was so honest, playful and explicit that it was like we were making love with KamalaDevi herself. Yummy! This book is a treasure chest of valuable pearls that shine sparkly light into hidden, dangerous, intimate places.”
– Annie Sprinkle, PhD, Ecosexual Artist and Filmmaker

Francois Dubeau Erotic Arti shame
“It’s damn good. The aphoristic approach gives one something to mull over in meditation. It is a book that people will pick up time and again when trying to develop their own thoughts, or in the midst of a lively conversation. I’ve been an ordained Buddhist Priest for 40 years, and have taken four initiations in Tibetan Tantra, so the
concept is very close to my heart. This book is dynamite and I’m delighted to have read it!”
– Tim Fullerton, Shinshu Dharma Teacher and Poet

Featuring Art by:
Francois Dubeau begins his work with a raw random gesture, a single line may translate into hours of intricate study.  His art has been exhibited worldwide since  2004. Major shows include the Seattle Erotic Arts Festival, The Dirty Show, Unclad, and the Erotic Heritage Museum. His work is also part of the Permanent Collections of the Exodus Trust and of the Kinsey Institute. He’s been shown in notable galleries in New York, Washington, Las Vegas and beyond. He sells creations on canvas, paper and other products. He’s also commissioned to create company logos. He lives in Montreal, Canada, with his wife Sophie. www.francoisdubeau.com

Art Caption: Such simple lines say so much. Her silent strings, crave your fingers, she wants to be caressed close to your neck while she sings. This musical beauty is but one example of how Francois’s black and white lines melodically move beyond the head and heart, to land below the belt.

Drumroll please….The book is officially scheduled to release on Halloween. (Witches New Year!)  And shortly afterwards on Nov. 18th there will be big launch on Amazon (which is when I’ll beg and plead and otherwise make a total fool of myself asking you to PLEASE buy the book online) to help boost sales to and make it an Amazon best seller! So mark your calendar, now and tell your friends.

Why Nov. 18th? It’s National Occult Day, Ofcourse. Really, it’s a thing. A special day to celebrate witches, rituals, fairies and everything having to do with mystery and magic!

Life is a Laboratory: A Letter from my heart, Love KamalaDevi (September 2015)

Sacred Slut Sutras Mock Cover Kamala DeviDear Friend,

I spent most the month spitting in test tubes and tapping veins for LabCorp. Though I lean towards the shamanic belief that my PTSD is a caused by spiritual emergency, if there is an underlying physical trigger such as a mold, hormones or allergies, my crack team of naturopathic doctors are determined to find it.

Between all the dietary changes, supplements and mindfulness practices, I’m happy to celebrate my son’s successful first full week of 3rd grade, and my husband’s launching a shiny new company: American Solar Foundation.

I’ve somehow also managed to pump out a hefty chunk of words. In addition to passionately plugging along on the Pleasure Bible, I’ve been working with a cartoonist to polish my next manuscript: Polyamory Pearls (Vol. 2 of the Sacred Slut Series) and I submitted 2 articles for publication, one is an advice column called “Polyamory Pillow Talk” and the other is about my complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

By far, the most exciting news is about birthing my next book: Sacred Slut Sutras (Pictured above.) We are almost ready to launch on Amazon this Halloween! The subtitle reads: Radical Insights on Sex, Love, Tantra, Kink & Other Spiritual Pursuits. Vol. 1 And the best part is that the collection includes over 40  pieces of absolutely stunning art by Francois Dubeau!

Art therapy is the predominant theme of the experiments in the laboratory of my life. I feel the act of creating something new puts me in ever-increasing intimate contact with the creator. I am blessed to be in her constant service. The results of my ongoing testing are still up for interpretation. I chose to see my explosive creativity as evidence of my healing, but of course, there has always been an undeniable correlation between art and crazy. But sanity tends to be overrated anyway.

Given the current state of my mental health, It is probably too soon to get that tattoo or legally change my name, but I confess, I find myself ruminating about such things in my early insomnia laced mornings. I suspect these impulses offer some kind of permanence to my otherwise unstable condition. Regardless, I’m feeling blessed for the immense support that keeps rolling in. Specific appreciation goes to my husband Michael for never sweating the small stuff. My girlfriend Roxanne for her weekly sexual healing sessions and her husband for Daniel for boosting my brain chemistry.

Another thing that has always helped me is helping others. So I’m excited to be heading off to Israel for a month of teaching and traveling with my tantra tribe. Since the International School of Temple Arts offers an entire toolbox of emotional release practices, I will be accountable for continuing my own personal growth work… Which brings me to my juicy invitations:

1) Sneak peek of the sexy Art from the NEW book: Sacred Slut Sutras: Radical Insights On Sex, Love, Tantra, Kink & Other Spiritual Pursuits Vol.1

2) Poly Problems? Questions? Curiosities? Kamala Devi is starting an Advice Column and would love to crowd source your topics….Ask here, or send a private message… One of the many things we learned while filming the show is: There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. To read the first column go here: Polyamory Pillow Talk: Caught Cheating & Handling Heartbreak!?

3)  I’m leaving in 2 days for a Sacred Sexual Pilgrimage to Jerusalem, Israel. For details about the ISTA Conference and/or the Shamanic Experience Training go here

What is ISTA? International School of Temple Arts

ISTA LogoIt’s official! Tonight in the holy hills outside of Jerusalem, I was welcomed as ISTA’s newest faculty member.  It feels like coming home. After teaching, hosting and leading ISTA events for almost a decade, I feel like ISTA is a tantric tribe that raised me! I am proud to help awaken sacred sexual consciousness across the planet. I’ll be teaching in Hawaii and bringing ISTA to San Diego in 2016.

Ready to come away with me!? Or are you still wondering, what exactly is ISTA?

The International Schools of Temple Arts is not an organism, but a living organism. We are a movement of thousands of self activating, directing and initiating individuals waking up to love, recognizing and synergizing with other expressions of ourselves around the world. We are currently active in over 30 countries and evolved from a small annual Daka-Dakini gathering (for professional sacred sexual healers) founded by my co-author, Baba Dez in Sedona, Arizona in 1997. The official website can be found at SchoolofTempleArts, but ISTA no longer has a central office, or manager. The official temple lives within the awakened body.  ISTA is now a non-profit educational organization who’s mission is to bring forth the Ancient and Modern Temple Arts to  expand consciousness and sexuality across through the wisdom of mystery schools. Trainings, festivals, gatherings, and other events come into being from the dreams and desire of  local organizers, assistants, hosts that are responding to the organism, and the greater Field of Love.

We do this work through rituals, events, conferences, and trainings across all regions, tapping into the pulse of each culture, the land itself and connecting experts around the world. The most potent immersive week-long trainings are:

Level 1: Spiritual Sexual Shamanic Experience

Level 2: Spiritual Sexual Shamanic Initiation

Level 3: Leadership course by invitation only

This year, Baba Dez is stepping down from his position in the Governance circle.  His last 3 ISTA courses this November in Scotland, Poland, and the first week of December in Melbourne.  Ohad Ezrahi is stepping in to serve with Janine McDonald and Bruce Lyon. Other Lead Facilitators include: Andrew Barnes, Crystal Dawn, Elaine Young, Laurie Handlers, Triambika Vive, Also this year we mourn the loss of Deborah Taj Anapol RIP.  If you are interested in collaborating please communicate with us via FaceBook ISTA community. The organism is looking to develop youth programs, help depressed people, and offers scholarships to people in need. ISTA’s field of love attracts so many beautiful beings with tremendous heart and vision. Joining an ISTA event is not a mental process, nor is it something you join because you like the teachers. It’s something you do when your ready to make your own soul your teacher.

I could talk about it, but really ISTA is something you have to experience for yourself! Watch this brief video I made before this year’s annual conference.

Join me in January in Hawaii For the next conference go to: http://hawaiitantrafestival.com/

If you’re ready for the deep dive into sexual awakening join me at http://hawaiitantrafestival.com/ista-training/
